Robert Rauschenberg: Fabric Works of the 1970s – Menil Collection, Houston

In celebration of the centennial of Robert Rauschenberg (1925–2008), the Menil Collection in Houston will open the exhibition *Robert Rauschenberg: Fabric Works of the 1970s* on September 19, 2025.

Organized in collaboration with the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation, the exhibition features important loans from international museums and the artist's archive. It is the first major museum exhibition dedicated to Rauschenberg's innovative use of textiles in the 1970s, a period of extraordinary experimentation.

Among the works on display is *Bucket (Hoarfrost)* (1974), made with solvent transfer on fabric, now part of the collection of the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation.

The exhibition offers a unique opportunity to delve deeper into a central chapter of the artist's production, in which the combination of materials and techniques reflects his ongoing search for new visual languages.

Special events dedicated to museum members will accompany the opening, including an opening evening on September 18 and the opportunity to purchase the exhibition catalogue at a special discount.
