Mickaël Doucet
(1974, Blois), lives and works between Paris and Pantin
Biography
Mickaël Doucet (Blois, 1974) develops a painterly practice centered on the relationship between space, memory, and perception. His work is situated within contemporary European figurative painting, combining formal precision with a psychological dimension of the image.
Self-taught, after a scientific background and formative travels in India and Nepal, he began an independent path in painting, drawing from the study of European masters from Vermeer to Matisse, as well as metaphysical and contemporary research. His works are defined by a precise construction of space, where light, geometry, and detail shape silent and suspended environments.
Contemporary domestic interiors, often devoid of human presence, become spaces of narrative tension, where absence amplifies the psychological and symbolic dimension of the image. Painting thus becomes a reflection on time, identity, and memory through a controlled and rigorous visual language.
Through a coherent practice, Doucet investigates the relationship between architecture, perception, and image construction, contributing to the development of contemporary figurative painting in Europe.
