Description of the Work: "Apocalypse by Pierre Henry, 1971"
Arman: Apocalypse de Pierre Henry, Accumulation as Revelation and Musical Homage
"Apocalypse de Pierre Henry" is a major sculpture-accumulation by Arman (Fernandez Arman), created in 1971. The work measures 66 x 33 cm and uses the artist's distinctive technique of accumulating objects, in this case burnt copies on frames, fixed in resin and wax.
The work is a direct homage to French composer Pierre Henry, a pioneer of musique concrète and experimental music. A leading member of the Nouveaux Réalistes movement, Arman uses accumulation to investigate consumer society and its "urban archaeology." The act of "burning" and hoarding creates a sense of controlled destruction and memory frozen in time, a visual parallel to experimental music.
The work boasts a prestigious provenance from Fernandez Arman's widow (via Gallerie Ganaël Pillon & Nadine Vadue) and has been exhibited in international exhibitions, including "Nuove Realtà" at the Kunsthalle Krems. It is archived and officially registered at the Arman Studio Archives, New York.
