Work Description: Dear Tomorrow (1995)

The Iconic Word Sculpture between Naples and New York

Dear Tomorrow (1995) is one of Jack Pierson’s rarest and most significant word sculptures, conceived in the Italian language during the artist's stay in Naples. Using letters salvaged from old commercial signs, Pierson transforms discarded materials into a poetic device that oscillates between intimate affection ("Cara" - Dear) and the uncertainty of the future ("domani" - tomorrow).

The work boasts an exceptional exhibition record: it was chosen as the signature piece and title for the prestigious exhibition of the Ernesto Esposito collection at MAMbo in Bologna in 2012. The chromatic and material variety (plastic, metal, and bakelite) turns each element into a fragment of American urban memory reassembled for an international audience.
