The face as form and vision of the infinite

“Corpo Creativo” (2000) represents a central moment in Michele Zaza’s practice, marking a transition from earlier narrative structures toward a more abstract and monumental dimension. In this phase, the artist focuses on the face and the human figure as essential forms, evoking references to an archaic and timeless sculptural language.

The work takes the form of a large-scale photographic triptych, in which the artist’s body and face assume a dominant presence, becoming images suspended between identity and representation. The visual construction suggests a symbolic dimension, where the individual projects beyond the physical into a universal condition.

The use of the Cibachrome technique enhances chromatic depth and lends the images an almost sculptural quality, reinforcing the perception of photography as both a spatial and conceptual medium.

This work belongs to a phase in which Zaza develops a reflection on the body as a site of transformation, where the human figure becomes a tool for existential and visual inquiry.
