Domestic space and chromatic harmony
“Moderato Cantabile” (2023) by Mickaël Doucet belongs to the artist’s practice, characterized by the representation of interiors through a synthesis of geometric abstraction and chromatic construction. The work develops an essential visual space in which form and color define compositional balance.
Executed in oil on canvas, the scene is structured through flat color fields and sharp lines that organize the space with precision. Intense tones, particularly the dominant blue, interact with secondary chromatic elements, creating a harmonious visual structure.
The work reflects a suspended and quiet dimension, where the domestic environment is reduced to a system of relationships between surfaces and colors. The composition unfolds as an ordered space, in which visual rhythm is determined by the interaction between geometry and tone.
