Description of the Work: "Witch's Game, 1996" by Achille Perilli
Achille Perilli and the Transparency Cycle: Structures that Emerge
"Gioco Stregonesco" is a unique and significant work by Achille Perilli, a master of Italian abstract art, created in 1996 using mixed media on canvas, measuring 50 x 109 cm. The work, signed and dated lower left ("Perilli 96") and titled and countersigned on the back, is part of the distinctive and mature "Le trasparenze" cycle.
As described by curator Nadja Perilli, the work is emblematic of this period: a composition where structures emerge from the material. The dark and sometimes cracked background serves as a stage for geometric shapes and lines that are never fully completed. The trajectories disappear into the light, creating a sense of mystery and controlled dynamism. The title itself, "Gioco Stregonesco," evokes a magical and almost mysterious interaction between shadow and form.
The work is in excellent condition and boasts a rich exhibition history, confirming its critical importance. It was the subject of several exhibitions between 1998 and 2004, including:
- "Achille Perilli. The Joy of Color" (Rinaldo Rotta Gallery, Genoa, 1998).
- "Achille Perilli 1968-1998. On Insane Geometry" (Mole Antonelliana, Ancona, 1998-1999).
Its provenance is certified by two important Roman galleries, the "Gallerie Volos" and the "Galleria Edieuropa." The painting is officially archived, listed under number 6 of 1996, and accompanied by a photographic archive certificate issued by the artist in 2003. "Gioco Stregonesco" is also widely published in various bibliographies and art catalogs, including the prestigious monograph "Achille Perilli. Catalogo generale dei dipinti e delle sculture. 1945-2006."
