Description of the Work: "Given Two or More Instants - Work, 1972"

Vincenzo Agnetti: The Moment, Work, Time, and Conceptual Action

"Given Two or More Instants - Work" is a seminal 1972 work by Vincenzo Agnetti, a key figure in Italian Conceptual Art. The work, a collage and mixed media on cardboard measuring 56 cm x 76 cm, epitomizes his rigorous investigation of language, time, and economics.

The artist simulates the postulates of mathematical logic by inserting the term "work," which belongs to a different linguistic sphere. The combination with the word "instant" generates the pivotal concept of "work instant": the temporal dimension dictated by the passage of experiential time, in contrast to the unlimited sequence of economics. "Work instant" corresponds to the duration and quantity of labor in which objects are formed and consumed, or rather, to the physical actions performed by the artist on the support: the mark, the cut, the tear.

Through this series, Agnetti seeks to evoke the moments necessary for the creation of the work, transforming the concept into tangible reality. The painting is signed and dated lower right and comes from the artist's private collection. Its historical significance is underscored by its 1973 solo exhibition at the prestigious Galleria Lia Rumma in Naples.

The work, in excellent condition, is accompanied by the artist's authentication on photograph and the certificate of archiving issued by the "Archivio Vincenzo Agnetti" in Milan.
