Word, affection and temporal projection
“Cara Domani” (1995) by Jack Pierson represents a particular moment in the artist’s research, distinguished by the use of the Italian language developed during a stay in Naples. In this phase, the practice of word sculptures engages with a different linguistic dimension, while maintaining a direct connection to urban aesthetics.
The composition is constructed through the assembly of letters taken from disused commercial signs. These materials, originally functional, are reorganized into an essential structure that transforms language into image.
The relationship between “Cara” and “Domani” introduces a connection between emotional proximity and temporal projection, situating the work within a reflection on time and memory.
The variety of materials — plastic, metal, and bakelite — contributes to an articulated surface, in which each element retains traces of its original use.
