Description of the Work: "Creative Body" by Michele Zaza

The Infinite in the Face: The Return to the Sculptural Self

"Corpo Creativo" (2000) represents a pivotal moment in Michele Zaza's artistic evolution. This majestic 240-cm triptych marks the transition from the familiar narratives of his early work to a more abstract, cryptic, and monumental exploration. As noted by critic Rainer Michael Mason, in this phase Zaza's work strips away the superfluous to focus on the face and sculptural forms with a Cycladic influence.

The work is composed of three elements in which the artist's body and face take center stage, becoming icons of a "man of becoming" gazing into infinity. The Cibachrome technique enhances the chromatic depth and solemnity of the images, transforming photography into a sculptural and philosophical experience.

Of extreme historical and collectible importance, this unique piece boasts an illustrious provenance from the Daniel Varenne collection and was the protagonist of the artist's retrospective at the Musée d'Art et d'Histoire in Geneva, making it a piece of indisputable museum value.
